Terms of use
Version 2026-10-19 · Halo for Windows
Halo is in a private beta and is invite-only. These terms are the agreement between you and the Halo team for using it. By installing or using Halo you accept them.
1. Your licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Halo, which we can revoke:
- with the Google account your invite was sent to;
- on up to two PCs at a time (Settings › Halo › Sign out of this PC frees a place);
- for as long as your licence is active. A licence doesn't expire by itself; it lasts until it is revoked under section 5.
Halo is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors keep all rights in Halo that these terms don't give you.
2. What you agree not to do
- Share, sell or pass on your invite code, your licence or your Halo account.
- Copy, redistribute or rent out Halo or its installer.
- Get around, disable or interfere with Halo's licence checks, updates or kill switch.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or take Halo apart, except where the law expressly allows it.
- Use Halo for anything unlawful, harmful or abusive, or to break another service's terms.
3. Licence checks
To confirm your licence, Halo contacts our licence server (Google Firebase) when it starts and every few hours after that. It sends your Google account's e-mail address, a code made from your PC's Windows ID (it can't be turned back into the ID), your PC's name, and Halo's version. If Halo can't reach the server, it keeps working for 7 days after its last successful check, then asks you to connect. Details are in the privacy policy.
4. Updates
Halo updates itself, and every update is signed. We may require you to update, and we may stop older versions from running. An installed version that no longer gets updates can stop working.
5. Suspension and ending
We may suspend or end your licence at any time, for example if you break these terms, to protect Halo or its users, or when the beta ends. We may also pause Halo for everyone. When that happens, Halo locks and stops working on your PCs. It doesn't delete your files, notes or data; they stay in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Halo. You can stop using Halo at any time by uninstalling it.
6. Services you connect
Halo works with services you choose to use, such as Google Gemini (with your own API key) and your Google account. Their own terms and privacy policies apply. You pay for any charges on your own keys and accounts.
7. Actions on your PC
Halo can read your screen and use your mouse and keyboard when you ask. It asks before steps you can't undo, but you are responsible for what you ask it to do and for the actions you approve. Check important results.
8. Beta: no warranty
Halo is a beta and is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. It may contain bugs, change or be withdrawn. AI answers can be wrong.
9. Liability
As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data or lost profits from using Halo, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for Halo (during the beta, nothing). Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited.
10. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. When we do, the version above changes and Halo asks you to accept the new terms before you go on using it.
11. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Questions: halo.assistant.help@gmail.com.
